Search volume tiers
Not all prompts are equally valuable. A prompt that 50,000 people search every month deserves more attention than one searched 20 times. Pranas attaches monthly Google search volume to every prompt via a 1:1 keyword mapping and groups them into tiers so you can prioritise what to scan, optimise, and report on.
How volume is attached
When a prompt is created (auto-generated or manually added), Pranas extracts its primary keyword and queries our search-volume database, scoped to the country you selected for the brand. Results are cached so the same keyword isn't re-queried across scans. If a keyword has no measurable volume, it's marked Unknown rather than zero — the difference matters because some long-tail buying-intent queries have low volume but high conversion value.
The tiers
| Tier | Monthly volume | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| High | 10,000+ | Mass-market head terms; high competition, high reward |
| Medium | 1,000 – 9,999 | Solid mid-tail; the sweet spot for most B2B brands |
| Low | 100 – 999 | Long-tail, often high intent |
| Very Low | 1 – 99 | Niche or emerging queries |
| Unknown | — | Volume not available (new term, ambiguous keyword, or country gap) |
How to use tiers
- Filter your prompt library by tier before a scan. For a small credit budget, prioritise High + Medium to maximise dashboard signal.
- Sort dashboard widgets by tier to see whether you're winning the queries that actually matter, not just the easy long tail.
- Find content gaps — if you're invisible on a High-tier prompt but visible on Low-tier ones, that's your next content brief.
Country accuracy
Search volume is country-specific. A keyword with 50K volume in the US may have 500 in the UK. Pranas pulls volumes for the country attached to your brand; if you change the brand's country, run Refresh Volumes on the Prompt Management page to re-fetch.
Why some prompts show "Unknown"
- The keyword is brand-new (e.g., a competitor product launched last week)
- The phrase is too long or specific for the search-volume database's index
- The country has limited keyword coverage
- The prompt is a multi-clause comparison (volume is reported per single term)
Unknown is not a problem — many of the highest-converting B2B queries have unmeasurable volume. Use intent and prompt type to judge value when volume is missing.
